Pella @ Wooster

Pella @ Wooster is a project co-directed by Beth Derderian, Siavash Samei, and Marianne Wardle (in alphabetical order). Our main goals is to model transparency in working with archaeological collections in museums.

We are working with a legacy collection of archaeological material excavated at Pella, Jordan, by former Wooster professor Dr. Robert Smith in 1967 – 1983. We engage students in cataloging the collection to build a full database which we will release publicly. Students also reconcile the catalog (ie, make sure we have what we should have), and produce social media and podcasts detailing our research in the collections.
